Within this, flood incidents cost £225 million in compensation , reaching £55 million in 2023/24 alone. oFrom 2021 to 2024, extreme weather, including severe storms and record temperatures (Britain's highest recorded temperature of 40.3°C in 2022), caused significant disruption, contributing 9.3 million weather-related delay minutes and £370 million in compensation over the period. The level of disruption experienced highlighted the need for proactive investment in resilience measures to mitigate financial and operational losses.
